My Amazon Favorites! Nail Edition

Hi Everyone!

Who doesn’t love a good Amazon find?? I have compiled a list of Amazon products that I personally use and LOVE! All of these items are my favorite for many different reasons. I have used these items in my professional career in my salon as a nail technician, or personally in my own beauty and nail routine. I’m so excited to share these with you all, so let’s get started!

Nail Polish:

1. Orly- Fresh Start: I love this shade for Summer and any time I’ve wanting to try a fun color!
2. Orly- Breathable Clear Coat: This clear coat is great as a base or top coat!
3. Orly- The Antidote: The BEST shade of polish for Autumn and Winter!

Nail/Skin Care:

1. Solar Oil: The best cuticle oil you can use on your nails and toes!
2. Hempz Moisturizer: I love the scents and consistancy of these lotions.
3. Bodipure Foot Masks: One use of these hand and foot masks, will leave you with crazy soft skin!

Tools:

1. Cuticle Cutter: This is my go-to nail prep tool before any manicure.
2. Pedicure Foot File: Everyone needs an affordable, easy-to-use pedicure file!

Gel Manicure Tips!

Hi loves!

Today I wanted to share some of my top tips for getting your gel manicures to last longer! I’m always trying to educate my clients on the best methods to extend the life of their manicure. If you’re tired of your manicure not lasting as long as you’d like, I’ve got some tips for you. Let’s get started!

Prep Work

This is the first step you should be doing with any manicure. Prepping the nails means cleaning the surface, getting rid of any overlapping cuticles, buffing the nail lightly and doing a final cleanse. All of these steps allow you to start with the best canvas to put your polish on. It ensures the product adheres well to the nail’s surface and gets rid of any oils or moisture that may cause the gel to lift too soon.

Dehydrate

This is a new step to many people. Dehydrating the nail simply means removing the surface moisture and natural oils from your nail plate. That moisture is enemy number one to gel polish. If you leave any oils on the surface, your polish will lift at the ends in under one week. You can dehydrate your nails by wiping them with alcohol or acetone and a cotton wipe.

Avoid Water and Chemicals

This step may seen difficult at first glance, but it’s actually very easy to accomplish. Gel hates moisture as I’ve mentioned previously. Because of this, it’s important to wear gloves whenever you are washing dishes or doing any household cleaning with water and chemicals.

Nails are jewels, not tools!

This saying is something I struggle to keep in mind myself. Remember that we shouldn’t use our nails like tools to prick and pry at things. Are nails are delicate and even the best laid manicure won’t hold up if you are rough with it. If you take this precaution, you will definitely extend the life of your manicure!

Amazon Holiday Gift Guide!

Hello again!

This product is something I use religiously in the colder winter months. I really enjoy this type of massager in particular because it can be used on your back, or with an insert to put your feet in! It has massaging and heat settings for ultimate comfort.

Of course I had to include a nail polish into this gift guide. Essie has the most gorgeous nail polish shades and even cuter names. If you have a nail polish lover in your life, Essie would be a great brand to look to. Try neutral shades or light pinks if you aren’t sure of their favorite shade.

Long Time, No See!

Hey guys!!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been close to two years since I’ve last posted to this blog. Life has been crazy busy and has changed so much since my last update. How have you all been? I know 2020 has been a roller coaster for us all, so I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to lately! Me? Where do I begin?!

First off, I have missed blogging so much! I have been pretty active on my Youtube channel, Polished by Amy since I’ve been absent here. I’ll start sharing some of those videos here for you all to catch up on if you’re interested. You can also follow my Instagram which is where I post my weekly manicures and other nail related content.

So what have I been up to? SO much! I got engaged last Fall and have been planning my wedding, gardening, renovating my home, bought a new car, started taking college classes again, created a handmade soap company, and so much more!

I also haven’t worked as a nail technician in a salon setting for a long time. I have truly missed it, but life led me to a different career path for the time being. However, I’m still keeping up with my nail vlogging and sharing all my favorite nail content with my followers. That leads to me today’s post, I’ve missed sharing this content on the blog! I’m excited to pump out some new posts for you guys, so please leave your suggestions in the comments.

Did I mention I’m getting married next month?! I’ve been so busy with planning and prepping, but I can’t wait to show you guys the wedding related nail content I have for you! This is my favorite time of year with my birthday being in September and my wedding in October…I’m excited for the posts to come and I hope you are too!
